This year’s NBA Summer League is shaping up to be the most eagerly anticipated edition yet for St. John’s basketball fans. Eight former Red Storm players will converge on Las Vegas, each hoping to leave a lasting impression for their respective teams, a number that may represent the largest ever Johnnies presence since the tournament’s inception. The group includes three 2026 NBA draft selections—Zuby Ejiofor (Atlanta Hawks), Dillon Mitchell (Boston Celtics), and Bryce Hopkins (Denver Nuggets)—as well as several undrafted alumni aiming to advance their chances of earning an NBA roster spot: Oziyah Sellers (New York Knicks), Kadary Richmond (Washington Wizards), Deivon Smith (Golden State Warriors), Aaron Scott (Brooklyn Nets), and Chris Ledlum (Houston Rockets).
Here’s how to follow all the St. John’s alumni throughout Summer League, which runs from Thursday, July 9 to Sunday, July 19. All game times are in Eastern Time, and any matchups featuring St. John’s players on both sides will be marked with a hash (#).
Ejiofor, who helped end St. John’s 11-year drought without a draft pick when he went 23rd overall to the Hawks, has already shown Atlanta that they made the right call. The reigning Big East Player of the Year posted 13.5 points and led the circuit with 13.0 rebounds during Salt Lake City’s Summer League. He even outplayed first-round pick Aday Mara, delivering a 19-point, 15-rebound double-double in a victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Mark your calendar for July 13, when Zuby Ejiofor faces his former frontcourt teammate Dillon Mitchell.

Mitchell, chosen 40th overall in the 2026 NBA draft, is expected to sign with the Celtics on a two-way deal as the franchise navigates life after Jaylen Brown. He should pair with fellow 2026 pick Chris Cenac Jr. and talented wing prospect Hugo Gonzalez, with Day Day Thomas, his Cincinnati teammate from the 2024-25 season, also joining the squad.

Hopkins capped St. John’s as the third Red Storm draft pick of the year, going 49th overall to the Denver Nuggets and also emerging as a two-way deal candidate. He drew attention during Nuggets’ Summer League practice when he delivered a poster-worthy dunk over Osayi Osifo.
Friday, July 10: vs. Houston Rockets — 6:30 p.m. (ESPN2) — #
Tuesday, July 14: vs. Oklahoma City Thunder — 9:00 p.m. (ESPN)
Sellers, following his lone season at St. John’s, remains connected to the Big Apple as he inked a Summer League deal with the New York Knicks, the reigning NBA champions. He will look to make a strong impression in Las Vegas and leverage that performance toward a more permanent role at the NBA level.
