Sioux Falls, S.D. – Bergen Reilly, a Sioux Falls native, returned to her hometown to team up with her Nebraska teammates Harper Murray and Andi Jackson. The trio took the lead in drills for young athletes ranging from 6 to 17 years old, guiding participants through a variety of activities and emphasizing fundamental skills. Reilly noted that more than a thousand girls attended the camp during its two Iowa stops, but returning to Sioux Falls added an extra layer of meaning for the Huskers’ senior.
“It’s amazing, and I’ve always wanted to come back and give back to Sioux Falls,” Reilly said. “There are so many people in South Dakota who have supported me, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to meet all these girls and talk with them. They hail from all corners of South Dakota, as well as Minnesota, Nebraska, and Iowa, and it’s been fantastic to connect with them. I’m just really grateful to be able to give back to this community.”
Across the sessions, Reilly, Murray, and Jackson emphasized confidence-building, teamwork, and skill development, sharing tips from their experiences at the college and national levels. The camp provided a supportive environment where aspiring young athletes could ask questions, receive personalized feedback, and learn drills designed to improve footwork, ball handling, shooting form, and defensive fundamentals. Attendees had the chance to demonstrate their progress in friendly scrimmages and drills, with the Nebraska teammates offering encouragement and guidance every step of the way.
Parents and coaches in the audience appreciated the opportunity for their athletes to learn from players who have navigated the path from youth sports to high-level competition. The event also showcased the close-knit nature of the Sioux Falls sports community, where former local stars give back by mentoring the next generation. Reilly spoke about the importance of staying connected to one’s roots and using personal experiences to inspire others, particularly girls who are pursuing athletics.
The camp’s impact extended beyond the field of play. Many participants left inspired by the stories of resilience and dedication shared by Reilly and her Nebraska teammates, taking away practical advice about balancing academics with athletics, staying motivated during setbacks, and maintaining a positive attitude under pressure. For families, the weekend offered a valuable chance to see role models in action, ask questions about college athletics, and gain insight into what it takes to compete at higher levels.
As the session concluded, the enthusiasm among the campers remained high, and organizers expressed gratitude for the overwhelming turnout and the generous support from the local community. Reilly’s return to Sioux Falls to host and participate in the camp underscored its significance—not only as a learning opportunity for young athletes but also as a celebration of the connections that bind the region’s basketball communities.
