The Greek has endured a worrying few years on court, but that hasn’t stopped him from winning at least one title each year for the past nine years.At the 2026 Swiss Open Gstaad on Sunday, Tsitsipas lifted his career’s 13 championship trophy, ending his title drought that lasted over 16 months.Stefanos Tsitsipas Reflects on Swiss Open Gstaad WinTsitsipas started his Swiss Open campaign unseeded, ranked No. 85 in the world. The player had registered just 17 wins across 17 competitive events this year, including the United Cup and the Davis Cup.He turned the tide at the ATP 250 event, winning five consecutive matches, including four three-setters. After beating fifth seed Ignacio Buse, Tsitsipas survived tough challenges against Jérôme Kym, Arthur Rinderknech, and Aleksandr Shevchenko before he halted Raphaël Collignon 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-3 in the final.“It’s a crazy feeling right now. I survived a marathon and it was a long week. I played some crazy matches in the past couple of days,” he said, according to the ATP Tour.“Every single match felt like it was never finished, and somehow I managed to convert every single time and get the victory,” Tsitsipas continued.The 27-year-old climbed 34 spots to No. 51 in the world rankings, offering him some much-needed relief.“Today I couldn’t be more blessed; couldn’t be more happy. It’s been an incredible effort from my side to go out there and do that over and over again. I’ve dealt with some pain in the past couple of days. So I’ve had to withstand a lot of different things. The result was obviously the best thing I would have imagined at the beginning of the week,” the former World No. 3 said.Tsitsipas recently ended his coaching partnership with his father, Apostolos, bringing their on-again, off-again professional relationship to a close. He began working with Thomas Perrin alongside Patrick Mouratoglou ahead of Wimbledon and would hope to build on their early success as they head into the North American hardcourt swing.“I’m going back home. I will need one or two days off. It’s been a long week. I need some recovery and some rest in order to be ready for the American swing.
