The cost of visiting and experiencing the United States during the 2026 World Cup has drawn intense attention this summer. While Americans are used to steep prices for sports tickets, concessions inside stadiums, and related experiences, many traveling supporters spending their summer in the U.S. have found it to be a real shock. Recently, it was revealed that one car park outside a World Cup venue was charging visitors as much as $150 to park ahead of a match.
TikTok user Simon Wilson posted a video showing him and a few friends driving up to the car park in the United States, and he could hardly believe the fee they faced. Throughout the clip, Wilson expressed his disbelief at multiple moments and even asked an attendant whether the price included car washing. “No, that can’t be right. $150 to park the car? That can’t be right. No, I don’t believe it,” he remarked. Later in the footage, he repeated, “$150 to park the car, mate, I’m honestly, I’m in shock.” At the end of the post, the fan summed up the frustration: “$150 to park the car and $600 for oversized. Mate, it’s a joke.”
This is not the only instance of startling prices for World Cup visitors this summer. Fans criticized the “abhorrent” cost of a sandwich and a Coke at a Toronto Stadium during a recent match. In Mexico City, food prices during the opener between Mexico and South Africa left World Cup supporters stunned as well. Yet despite these eye-popping prices, the overall sentiment from fans has been largely positive about their experiences across the three host countries. They have enjoyed the atmosphere and the global celebration, even as costs in North America continue to exceed expectations for many travelers.
