Fresh off the program’s first national title in January, it’s only fitting that a pair of Indiana wide receiver commits would be squaring off in Week 1 of the high school football season.Lawrence North 5-star Monshun Sales and Brownsburg 3-star Branden Sharpe went head-to-head on Friday, Aug. 21 and there was one clear winner. However, it wasn’t who you’d think it would be.Sharpe caught four passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns, adding a two-point conversion as Brownsburg, the No. 1 team in the state, handled business against Lawrence North, 48-25.On the other side, Sales was shut down in his first game since being committed to Indiana. He had a pair of catches for 12 yards, unable to tilt the game in the Wildcats’ favor.Sharpe had a breakout junior year a season ago, catching 59 passes for 1,143 yards (19.4 YPC) and 13 TD while adding a kickoff return for a touchdown on special teams.Sales finished with 37 catches for 794 yards and 9 touchdowns last season, adding 56 tackles on defense to help the program reach the Class 6A playoffs.Follow Sports Reporter Alex Martin on X at @NP_AlexMartin or via email: amartin@usatodayco.com.
