During Iowa women’s basketball summer practices, head coach Jan Jensen shared early impressions of five-star freshman forward McKenna Woliczko. Jensen described Woliczko as having a humble confidence, recognizing she has much to learn while also possessing a wide array of tools and versatility. The 6-foot-2 freshman, ranked No. 6 nationally by 247Sports, is noted for her ability to do many things on the court, including running the floor and finishing well, along with displaying a pretty jumper that should become more consistent as she gains experience.
Jensen praised her speed and first step, suggesting she will be a difficult guard once she learns the reads. He also highlighted her rebounding from unexpected positions and her strong overall mindset, noting that she’s homesick like many players but has approached her new environment with a solid work ethic and positive perspective.
