​The Las Vegas Raiders currently head into training camp with a slight snag: two of their 2026 draft class—out of ten players—remain unsigned as camp approaches in 15 days. Specifically, the team has yet to sign first-round pick and No. 1 overall quarterback Fernando Mendoza, and fourth-round cornerback Jermod McCoy. Across the league, there are fewer than ten unsigned draft selections, and two of them belong to the Raiders.
Is this a problem? Not at the moment. It’s likely to resolve itself soon. Holdouts among first-round picks have become relatively rare since the 2011 collective bargaining agreement, though they can still occur, they simply aren’t as common as they once were.
As of now, Mendoza and fellow quarterback Ty Simpson—the No. 13 overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams—are the only unsigned quarterbacks taken in the first round. This has fueled some speculation in the media that the holdups might stem from unsettled details in secondary contract language, such as guarantees, payout scheduling, offset language, and voiding rules.
So, the likelihood of a major holdout seems low. In McCoy’s case, the signing delay could be tied to his injury history. The Tennessee product was viewed as a potential first-round talent, but his stock dipped due to concerns about injuries, which could necessitate contract language addressing his status or risk.
At this stage, there isn’t much reason for alarm. If the Raiders do not have both unsigned players squared away by the week of the reporting date, the situation could shift. Still, it’s reasonable to expect that these issues will be resolved in time for training camp, especially with the full squad slated to begin workouts on July 29.
