Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence carded two birdies and three pars on his way to an 86 in the first round of the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament, held July 10 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nevada. Lawrence, who tied for 77th in the 2025 event, birdied the 10th and 13th holes and finished with three pars, nine bogeys and four double bogeys, finishing at +2 under the Stableford scoring format. By the end of the round, he was tied for 41st overall.
Lawrence played from the 11th tee box during the opening round at Edgewood Tahoe, part of a notable all-NFL quarterback lineup. In the same group, Drew Brees, the retired New Orleans Saints quarterback, posted a 78 and earned 14 points to finish tied for 10th in his first appearance in the event since 2007. Baker Mayfield, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ starter, struggled, shooting 96 and finishing at -17, tied for 85th in the 90-player field.
Local fan favorite and former Major League Baseball star Vince Coleman, a Raines High School graduate, had a solid day with a 76 and +15 points, placing him in a tie for eighth at the conclusion of play. Coleman was mostly steady, recording one birdie, 12 pars and five bogeys.
World Golf Hall of Fame member Annika Sorenstam held the early clubhouse lead with 22 points after posting an even-par 71 that included an eagle-3 at the third hole. Her strong start set a high bar for the rest of the field as players continued to compete on a course known for its scenic views and challenging terrain.
