​Coming off of a strong 13-4 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to replicate the success they had under first-year head coach Liam Coen.But, on Sunday, the team placed two offensive linemen on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, losing rookie guard Garrett DiGiorgio and 2021 sixth rounder Cole Van Lanen.Both players still count towards Jacksonville’s roster count and can be activated at any time.Van Lanen is the biggest loss, as he was set to start or have a big role as the Jaguars’ left tackle.The former Wisconsin Badger appeared in 16 games, making 10 starts last season, taking snaps at left tackle, left guard, right guard and right tackle.Van Lanen finished the regular season with four consecutive starts protecting starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s blind side and helped Jacksonville produce five games without allowing a sack, tying for the most in the NFL.Unfortunately, Van Lanen suffered a knee injury in Week 18 of last season against the Tennessee Titans, which is still keeping him sidelined.While it remains likely that Van Lanen will be ready to go at some point during this season, it is disappointing considering he earned a 3-year, $51 million extension for his performance.According to Sports Illustrated’s John Shipley, Van Lanen “did not do much during the offseason program, and it remains to be seen exactly what his timeline looks like.”With the 6-foot-5 trenchman sidelined, expect rookie tackle Emmanuel Pregnon to have an expanded role earlier than expected.Last season, Pregnon was perhaps the best offensive lineman on an Oregon team that made it to the second round of the College Football Playoff and finished as a finalist for the best offensive line in college football.Pregnon started all 15 games last season, earning First-team AP All-American honors. He uses his 6-foot-4, 314 pound frame to dominate defensive lineman in pass protection, providing an instant plug-and-play option for Jacksonville to utilize.Following the pick, head coach Liam Coen described Pregnon as succinctly as he could, calling him, “ass and mass.”DiGiorgio, the other loss, was signed by Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft.The 6-foot-7 interior player was a four-year starter at UCLA, earning a 2025 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention.DiGiorgio’s 49 starts made were the second-most in UCLA program history, as he provided consistency on the line.While losing these two players certainly hurts, players like Pregnon and Anton Harrison will be expected to fill the voids.Join the CommunityDon’t miss out on our ROUNDTABLE community and the latest news!It’s completely free to join, simply by clicking the yellow button at the top of the homepage.
