Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence posts closing 87 at American Century Championship

By admin — In News — July 12, 2026

The positive takeaway for Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was that he shaved down his double bogeys in the final round of the American Century Championship, a celebrity golf tournament held July 12 at Edgewood Tahoe South Golf Club in Stateline, Nevada. His progress stood out especially when contrasted with the second round, during which he finished with five pars in a row; in the final round, after an encouraging start he found himself on a bogey streak that extended longer than he would have liked, and he couldn’t climb off it.
During the concluding round, Lawrence putted on the first green as part of the round at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course on July 12, 2026. Under the Stableford scoring system used for the event—six points for an eagle, three for a birdie, one for a par, zero for a bogey, and minus-two for a double bogey or worse—Lawrence ended with a net four points for the day. He achieved his sixth par of the day at the 11th hole, but then dropped two of the next three holes into bogeys and finished with four consecutive bogeys, ending the round at 87 and tallying a net score of zero points for the round.
Across the 54-hole event, Lawrence finished tied for 48th with Jay Bilas, after shooting 87 in the final round. He had shown improvement from the previous year, when he tied for 75th. Throughout the tournament, Lawrence bested several notable playing partners. Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers posted a total of minus-13 points on a 95, tying for 77th place, while Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell totaled minus-8 points on a 92, finishing in 82nd place with a cumulative minus-44 total. Lawrence’s rounds included two birdies in the opening round; however, he did not tally another birdie for the remainder of the tournament. He did, however, reduce the number of double bogeys in the final round to three, after recording five in the second round and four in the first.
Vince Coleman, a Raines High School graduate and the last Major League Baseball player to steal 100 bases in a season, participated in the event as well. Coleman opened the round with an early birdie, then weathered two doubles before finishing with an 82, equating to plus-7 points and a 54-hole total of plus-28. Coleman ended the competition alone in 18th place.
In the broader field, former tennis standout Mardy Fish captured his second American Century Championship title, finishing six points ahead of the 2025 champion, Joe Pavelski. Fish totaled 20 points on the day and 72 overall, while Pavelski finished with 66 points. Steph Curry was third with 59 points, and Annika Sorenstam was fourth with 58.
