Jaguars’ Lawrence Left Out of Top-10 Quarterback Rankings for 2026

When the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Trevor Lawrence first overall in 2021, it was expected he would become one of the best quarterbacks in the league and one of the faces of the NFL.Throughout his first four seasons, Lawrence showed flashes of the talent that made him the best QB prospect to enter the league since Andrew Luck in 2012, but never really put it all together for long stretches.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThat all changed in 2025.Under first-year head coach Liam Coen and offensive coordinator Grant Udinski, Lawrence had a career season and became an MVP finalist for the first time.Heading into the 2026 season, Lawrence has been able to focus on mastering the offense instead of learning it, raising expectations for him even higher. However, even after his breakthrough 2025 campaign, Lawrence was still left out of ESPN’s top-10 quarterback rankings for the 2026 season. Though he was listed as an “honorable mention,” Lawrence’s exclusion from the top 10 is laughable. The quarterbacks in the top five are exactly who you would think. Josh Allen ranks number one, with Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson coming in fifth.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAll five, except for Burrow, are either Super Bowl champions, former MVPs, or both. Burrow has taken the Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl, where he lost to Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams. The rest of the top 10 is Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, Drake Maye, Jared Goff, and Caleb Williams. While it would be difficult to place Lawrence ahead of anyone in the top five, he could easily be ranked ahead of any of the QBs who are ranked 6-10.Maye and Williams are two of the most talented quarterbacks in the league, and both have tremendous futures ahead of them, but each has only one successful season under their belts.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Dallas Cowboys seem to disappoint every year, no matter how well Prescott plays.Herbert came into the NFL a year before Lawrence. Despite all the hype surrounding him every year, he still has never won a playoff game, and blew a 27-0 playoff lead against…Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars.Goff is usually criminally underrated, so seeing him in the top 10 is well-deserved, but Lawrence’s play last season was better.Lawrence led the Jaguars to a 13-4 record, which was a nine-win improvement from 2024. What does he have to do to be regarded as one of the best in the NFL?ESPN did at least put Lawrence in its “honorable category.” He shares that ranking with Sam Darnold, Jayden Daniels, Jordan Love, Brock Purdy, Baker Mayfield, and Jalen Hurts.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhile all of those QBs are very good, I don’t think I would take any of them over Lawrence, who is still only 26 years old. When you combine Lawrence’s performance last season with his expectations for 2026, it is ridiculous that he wasn’t in ESPN’s top 10.If he can take another step forward this season, Lawrence could no
