Following on from the news that Amit Bhatia, backed by the Mittal family, is in talks to buy a significant minority stake in Liverpool Football Club, Sky reporter Mark Kleinman is reporting that the consortium has reached out to billionaire Jeff Bezos to join that group.Exclusive: The Amazon founder – and world’s fourth-richest man – Jeff Bezos has been approached to join a consortium, led by Amit Bhatia, which is in preliminary talks to acquire a minority stake in Liverpool Football Club from owner Fenway Sports Group. https://t.co/6dXYSiPusV— Mark Kleinman (@MarkKleinmanSky) July 21, 2026A spokesperson for the consortium led by Mr Bhatia declined to comment on Mr Bezos’s prospective investment on Tuesday night, while a spokesman for Mr Bezos has been contacted for comment, according to the Sky story. This news will obviously be divisive for the fanbase of the club, and while it does not appear that FSG plan on relinquishing majority control of the club at the moment, it could open up a pathway to that, especially when FSG were exploring a sale just a few years ago.
