Is it possible that the Dallas Cowboys legend ends up back where he started in the NFL?Aikman and Dallas owner Jerry Jones had what Cowboys writer Patrik Walker described as ” a very, very lengthy conversation” on the field before the team’s victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. During his customary Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones was asked if he would possibly hire Aikman for a role in the organization.‘It’s very possible’“Yes, I could and would. It’s that simple because I do think that much of him with his basic command and knowledge of NFL football,” Jones said. “He’s certainly qualified to do any of the things that have been mentioned.  I think he’s outstanding at what he focuses on right now, and that’s getting the story, the narration of football games.”“He’s one of the hardest working, most focused people that I’ve ever been around,” Jones added. “When you’re around each other, a part of that makeup can make it where you have your ups and downs. I think the world of him. I’ve seen his image and had it in my eyes since I walked in the NFL. He’s outstanding. The answer is not necessarily that we’re going to do anything more direct with the team at this time, but don’t rule it out. It is very possible.”How serious is Jones?Aikman has previously served as a consultant for the Miami Dolphins, but has never worked full-time in an NFL front office. We know Cowboys fans would largely embrace him coming home, but it also can’t be discounted that Jerry Jones has a tendency to say a lot of different things, particularly when they are attention-grabbing.For what it’s worth, Aikman did say in a recent conversation with Cowboys Roundtable’s Mike Fisher that he “would have lunch, breakfast, or dinner with Jerry any time he wants it” and indicated he’d be open to working for his former team.“We’ve been through the highest of highs, we’ve been through some pretty tough moments as well,” Aikman said of Jones. “Our relationship is complicated. I think he would agree with that, but it is one that’s built, I believe, on respect.
This week, he said some really kind things, which meant a lot to me, quite honestly. So, yeah, I would welcome any conversation with Jerry, and quite honestly I don’t know if there would be, or if there ever would be an opportunity. But if Jerry came to me and felt that, in his heart, I could lend some services that would help make them better, I would — I’d have a hard time not taking a good look at that.”The post Jerry Jones makes feelings on hiring Troy
