​BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The LSU community is mourning the loss of another legend.Former LSU All-American and head coach Jerry Stovall died at 85, Matt Moscona of LouisianaSports.net announced Monday, Aug. 31. (AP Photo/Matthew Hinton)The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame posted a message on social media following Stovall’s passing, stating in part, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Jerry Stovall, a 1981 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame inductee, following his passing.” In addition to being inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, the West Monroe native was a three-time All-SEC selection and Heisman Trophy runner-up. Stovall was head coach of the LSU Tigers football team from 1980 to 1983. He later served as the athletic director for Louisiana Tech from 1990 to 1993. Stovall’s No. 21 LSU jersey has been retired to reflect his contributions to the LSU football program. His nickname was “Mr. Everything.”This is a developing story.
