​NFL rosters are built around stars, but successful teams rarely survive a long season without contributions from players further down the depth chart. The Baltimore Ravens understand that reality better than anyone. With injuries already creating uncertainty across the roster, this team needs its depth players ready when opportunities arrive.That made Carson Vinson an interesting name to bring up with Jesse Minter on Friday. Ahead of Baltimore’s upcoming matchup with the New Orleans Saints, as is often the case two days before game day, the head coach spoke with the media. He took a moment to highlight a player who isn’t receiving much attention outside the building.That player was offensive lineman Carson Vinson. He isn’t one of the Ravens’ most discussed players right now. He isn’t competing for headlines. He isn’t a starter. What he is doing, however, is earning praise from his head coach after being asked if the reserve tackle would be ready to play if injuries forced Ronnie Stanley out of the lineup.Yes… I think at one point in time — speaking about [Carson Vinson] during training camp — I think he is one of our most improved players. I thought he did a really good job in Week 1. He had a chance to get in there on some of our jumbo-type packages as an extra guy.”That statement alone stood out. Coaches routinely praise players during training camp and throughout the season, but publicly labeling someone as one of the team’s most improved players carries a little more weight. Minter then explained why he believes Vinson has made such significant progress.”I think it is a really cool thing to see a guy really get in there and start to play, and his play style is exactly how we want to play. He is very physical. He plays really aggressively, and again, I think he has just really, really improved. He put a ton of work in the weight room in the offseason, and I think it shows up in how he played in the preseason. So, [I am] really happy with where he is at.”The Ravens have consistently emphasized physicality, aggression, and finishing throughout Minter’s first season as head coach. According to Minter, Vinson’s style fits that identity perfectly, and that has been a key part of fueling the youngster’s development.Vinson was a 2025 fifth-round selection. Minter’s comments offer an interesting glimpse into how Baltimore views its offensive line depth. Injuries inevitably test every roster over a season, making player development beyond the starting lineup critically important.Whether Vinson is called upon for a larger role this week remains to be seen. What is clear is that the Ravens believe the young lineman has made meaningful progress. For a player operating outside the spotlight, there may not be a stronger endorsement than what Minter has offered ahead of another game day.
