​Speculation about Aaron Glenn’s job security has reached a boil entering the 2026 season.But only Woody Johnson knows how hot the Jets coach’s seat truly is and the notoriously unpredictable owner isn’t talking.Johnson has not spoken to the media since he threw then-Jets starting quarterback Justin Fields under the bus during last year’s NFL Fall League Meeting in Manhattan. The Jets went 3-14 last season, and some have speculated that Johnson is ready to move on from Glenn.All indications are that Johnson will give Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey every chance to succeed in 2026. Glenn signed a five-year guaranteed contract in 2025. So I don’t get the sense that Johnson wants to fire him and pay another coach at least as much as he’s already paying Glenn.I’m not sure there’s a magic win total Glenn must reach to save his job. Still, one thing is certain: The Jets cannot look as bad as they did late last season. They were outscored 188-54 while losing their final five games.A Week 1 loss to the Titans and former Jets coach Robert Saleh certainly wouldn’t help Glenn’s case. It’s difficult to call the first game of the season a must-win. Even so, it is a critical game for the Jets and Glenn as they try to build momentum heading into their home opener against the Packers.The Jets and Glenn need the arrow to be pointing upward toward the end of the season. In the meantime, it appears Johnson, Glenn and Mougey are on the same page.“I think just by nature, I’m a confident person,” Glenn said. “But I will say, the process that we’ve been through this year has been really, really good, and it brings on a different level of confidence, if that makes sense, of, man, me and Moug, we’re in lockstep.“The players are in lockstep. From Woody [Johnson], Hymie [Elhai], just as a building, as an organization, we’re in lockstep. Like, that feels really good. It feels really good. We’re going to continue to build on that, and I know that just by the people that are in this building, we will continue to build on that. That brings another level of confidence from a coaching aspect, just more or less from an overall organizational aspect.”On paper, the Jets look better than they did a year ago. After being one of the youngest teams in the league last season, the Jets now have a blend of established veterans, surrounded by what they hope is ascending young talent.They have a quarterback in Geno Smith who isn’t shy about throwing the ball downfield in search of explosive plays. But he will need to limit his interceptions after leading the NFL in that category last season (17).“I think he has a plan,” Smith said about Glenn. “He’s laid out the plan for us, and he understands what it takes to win. He’s been a winning coach, he’s been a winning player, and as far as the X’s and O’s go, I know he knows that. But just his leadership overall, he’s putting us in a lot of tough situations in practice, forcing u
