The New York Jets are moving in a hopeful direction, under the leadership of head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey who have reshaped the roster with a mix of veterans and 2026 NFL Draft picks. That blend has sparked renewed optimism as training camp approaches. Yet a recent player ranking serves as a reminder that widespread respect must still be earned. Pete Prisco’s annual CBS Sports Top 100 players list did not include any current Jets among its top performers, but several familiar faces did appear. Cornerback Sauce Gardner was listed at No. 48 after being traded to the Indianapolis Colts, and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams came in at No. 54 following his move to the Dallas Cowboys. Quarterback Sam Darnold also appeared at No. 72 after leading Seattle to a Super Bowl title, though he says he would have loved to achieve that feat with the Jets in Florham Park. The rankings are understandable: the Jets are in the middle of a rebuild. While receivers Garrett Wilson, running back Breece Hall, defensive end Will McDonald IV, and other young players show top-100 potential, they’ll need to produce consistently to gain national recognition. The hopeful news is that New York appears much closer to turning the corner than it did a year ago. If the Jets take the expected step forward this season, don’t be surprised if next summer’s list looks very different. For now, these rankings reinforce what the organization already knows: potential is valuable, but production earns real respect, and a strong showing across the board would generate nationwide recognition.
