​Just in: Journo confirms that Man United attacker has green-lit imminent transfer this weekEthan Wheatley has reportedly green-lit an imminent switch to Lincoln City from Manchester United.According to transfer reporter Pete O’Rourke, the forward had garnered interest from a host of clubs, but the Imps have come out on top in the race for his signature.Ethan Wheatley closing in on Imps moveThe move will allow Wheatley, who had been linked with Everton, to ply his trade in the Championship for the first time, with Lincoln currently navigating their first season back in the second division in 65 years.They have suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Middlesbrough and Portsmouth in their opening two fixtures, so they will be hoping the United youngster can come in and make an impact when his deal is finalised.It seems as though Wheatley will be departing on a permanent basis, which would spell the end of an 11-year association with United.How has Wheatley fared over the last few years?The 20-year-old has made four senior appearances – three under Erik ten Hag and one under Ruud van Nistelrooy – for the Reds, initially being granted his debut in April 2024 via a one-minute cameo against Sheffield United in the Premier League.He played twice more, albeit briefly, in the top flight against Burnley and Arsenal in the 2023/2024 term, while also featuring off the bench in a 5-2 win over Leicester City in the League Cup.Wheatley has also overseen loan spells with Walsall, Northampton Town and, for the second half of 2025/2026, Bradford City, though he departed the latter without registering a goal in the 12 League One matches he played.For Northampton, however, he notched three goals and three assists in 22 games and 1,586 minutes of action.His contract with United runs until June 2028, plus the option of an additional 12 months.ShareTweetShareShareEmail
