Juventus Linked to Former Milan Star After New Hire

By admin — In News — July 10, 2026

Juventus has completed its reshaping of the front office by appointing former Milan and Roma executive Frederic Massara, who recently exited his role after a clash with Gian Piero Gasperini. Reports from Mediaset suggest that the club is already being connected to one of Massara’s notable past signings, Theo Hernandez. The left-back would be open to a return to Italy, influenced in part by family considerations, coming just one year after his move to Al-Hilal. Milan initially sold Hernandez for a discounted €25 million because he had only a year left on his contract and did not want to extend it. In the 2025/2026 season, Hernandez recorded 9 goals and 6 assists in 44 appearances.
However, Hernandez currently earns €20 million per year in the Middle East, a figure that Juventus and other European clubs are unlikely to match. Consequently, even if he pushes for a move, he would need to accept a substantial pay cut to join Juventus. The club could ultimately pursue a new left-back, particularly if Andrea Cambiaso becomes available on the market.
On defense, Juventus has shown a much greater sense of urgency. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they are waiting for Jhon Lucumi’s release clause to expire before commencing talks with Bologna. In the meantime, Tarik Muharemovic has requested a higher salary than the club anticipated, around €3–4 million per year. He and his representatives appear to be waiting for interest from English clubs to materialize. The Old Lady is prepared to cash in for the right price if the opportunity arises.
There is also interest from Sunderland in two Serie A center-backs, signaling that English clubs are monitoring the situation closely. If Cambiaso departs, he would be an ideal target to replace him, though activity in that area has remained fairly quiet so far. Reacquiring players from Saudi Arabia proves to be a pricey strategy, and no Serie A club has yet managed to lure a star back from the Middle East.
Overall, Juventus is navigating a complex market where reconciling salary expectations, transfer fees, and the appeal of returning to Italy will determine how aggressive they can be in pursuing top targets like Hernandez or potential defensive reinforcements. The club’s strategy reflects a broader willingness to spend to strengthen the squad, but the financial realities of competing with the Saudi-based offers and the lure of English league competition will shape how far they go to land their preferred signings.
