Kansas football struggles late against Utah, falls to 0-2 in Big 12 play

   ​SALT LAKE CITY, UT (KSNT) -The Jayhawks couldn’t get it done late in Utah.The Kansas football team fell to 2-3 (0-2 Big 12), losing to No. 12 Utah (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) 41-24.Utah opened the scoring as Wayshawn Parker ran from five yards in to cap the opening drive for the Utes.Next possession for Utah, it was the quarterback Devon Dampier taking it in himself from 12 yards out as Utah took a 14-0 lead.The Jayhawks would capitalize on a turnover as Isaiah Marshall found Dylan Edwards for a three-yard score to make it 14-7 to open the second quarter. Dampier got back to work for the Utes and found Noah Bennee for a six-yard score to give Utah a two-score lead. Marshall would get it back for Kansas, running in from six yards out to make it 21-14 with 42 seconds left in the first half.Utah would throw an interception to Jalen Todd as the Jayhawks would capitalize with a field goal to trail 21-17 at the break.Out of the half, Dampier found Ricky Johnson for a four-yard score to go up 27-17.The ‘Hawks would respond as Marshall connected with Nik McMillian for a 29-yard touchdown to to make it 27-24. In the fourth quarter, Dampier found Semi Taulanga for a one-yard score on the goal line to retake a 34-24 lead. The Jayhawks would march down the field and go for it on fourth and goal but couldn’t convert.Utah’s Wayshawn Parker then scored a 90-yard dash to put the game to bed and win 41-24.Kansas returns to the Sunflower State and will take on rivals K-State in Manhattan on Oct. 17.For more sports news, click here.
