​If there’s a sport Lincoln Kienholz isn’t good at, it has yet to be discovered.Louisville football’s projected starting quarterback played basketball and baseball in high school but also dominates in golf and bowling, according to wide receiver Tre Richardson.“Lincoln’s probably overall the best at a lot of things,” Richardson said. “Like golf, I don’t know why he’s just naturally good at golf.”Using Kienholz’s athleticism in every imaginable way will be to the Cardinals’ benefit. They’re making it known that he’ll be used significantly in the run game, not shying away from it. During Louisville’s second open practice of fall camp Saturday, Aug. 8, the Ohio State transfer and fellow quarterback Davin Wydner spent one period doing drills with the running backs.Kienholz was a natural there, too.“Not bad, Linc,” running backs coach Chris Barclay told the quarterback, before pouring on the praise. “You’re gonna score a long tuddy for us this year.”In limited time with the Buckeyes last year, Kienholz had two rushing touchdowns — one each against Minnesota and Purdue. He also had a 22-yard fourth-quarter run against Rutgers. Whether passing or throwing, Kienholz will add an electric element to the Cardinals’ offense and has been steady through the first two practices.There’s much optimism surrounding Louisville’s quarterback room with Briggs Cherry also making impressive throws during Day 2. Scott’s first day was highlighted by picking off quarterback Ryan Zimmerman. Two days later, he continued to stand out in showing speed and good form during defensive back drills. Jaydin Broadnax, too, seems to have acclimated well, with the freshman recovering a fumble during Saturday’s practice.Tayon Holloway is the lone returning starter in a Louisville secondary that gave up the fewest passing yards in the ACC (188.8 per game).
