The Green Bay Notre Dame football team is closing in on making program history entering its Fox River Classic Conference-South showdown at Menasha on Oct. 2.Its running back keeps making history, too.Senior standout and Wisconsin commit Kingston Allen has been front and center for the most successful stretch Notre Dame has enjoyed since it started playing in 1990.The Tritons are 6-0 and need four wins to have 10 or more victories in a season for the fourth consecutive year, topping the three-year run they had from 2015 to 2017.They already set a program record last season by winning a third straight conference championship after the 1997 and 1998 squads went back-to-back, and a win over Menasha in a battle of conference unbeatens will all but decide if that streak reaches four.As for Allen? Many high school observers know about his accomplishments by now – by the way, he’s not related to former Fond du Lac and Badgers running back Braelon Allen – although a strong finish by both Notre Dame and Allen could make him the most prolific running back in state history. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Allen enters Week 7 leading the entire nation in rushing with 1,701 yards, just ahead of the 1,689 from Princeton (North Carolina) junior Teo McPhatter. He has 5,498 career rushing yards, and if he stays healthy, it’s all but a lock he will become the eighth player in state history with 6,000.He needs 1,063 to break the school record set by Christian Collins, the star he replaced as the starter last season after Collins finished his decorated career in 2024 as the fifth all-time leading rusher in state history with 6,560 yards.Allen is 1,918 yards shy of tying the state’s all-time rushing career record held by Colton Brunell of Columbus, who had 7,416 from 2021 to 2023.That would seem a bit out of a reach until you see Allen rushed for 1,741 yards in the playoffs last season on the way to a second straight state title game.He is averaging 283.5 yards per game this season despite averaging only 12.8 attempts a contest the last four weeks while Notre Dame dominated overmatched teams. If he keeps that yards average and Notre Dame makes only the semifinal round of the playoffs, it still would be enough to make him the all-time rushing king. But wait. There’s more.Among the 10 best individual rushing games in state history, Allen has four of them. His 509 yards against Slinger in the second round of the playoffs last season is ranked second, and the 477 he had to open the postseason a week earlier is fourth. He started this season with 458 yards against Neenah (seventh) and followed the next week with 453 against Kaukauna (ninth).Again, wait. There is more.Allen needs eight more rushing TDs to become only the third player with 100 in a career. He needs 21 to break the record 112 that Random Lake’s Luke Hagel scored from 1995 to 1998.Both are well within reach, considering Allen is averaging 5.3 TDs per game and has scored six or more in half of them.Along with le
