It’s a chance for rookies to get tested, younger players to get valuable minutes, and players further down the bench to show they belong. It’s also a chance for established players to get back into the rhythm of playing together before the games start to count.That’s especially important for the Knicks. There’s no reason to overreact to one preseason game, especially when the coaching staff is still evaluating different players and combinations. The goal is to learn what works, give players time to get back in the swing of things, and get everyone ready for the regular season.Jalen Brunson Gets Back on the FloorOne of the biggest positives for the Knicks was seeing Jalen Brunson back in live-game action after his offseason wrist surgery. Brunson didn’t need to play a huge role in the preseason opener. Getting back on the court and getting comfortable again was the more important part, and his return gives the Knicks another reason to feel good about where things are headed.OG Anunoby also had a strong showing, particularly on the offensive glass. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed as well, while the Knicks continued working their core players back into game shape.The Knicks’ starters weren’t asked to carry the game, which makes sense this early in the preseason.
