Kyle Walker reveals why Arsenal target is so lethal

Kyle Walker played alongside Julian Alvarez at Manchester City, a partnership that saw the Argentinian flourish and collect every club trophy before moving on to Atletico Madrid a few years later. Today, Alvarez is being tracked by Arsenal, who are keen to bring him back to the Premier League and consider him a superb signing given his talent and pedigree. The Gunners view him as one of the world’s elite talents and have kept a close watch on his development, even as they contend with Barcelona for his signature. Although Alvarez would prefer a move to the Catalan club, Atletico is reluctant to sell to them, and the Spaniards might opt to strike a deal with Arsenal instead. That could give Arsenal an edge in the race, and they intend to capitalize on it, but what exactly makes Alvarez such a dangerous attacker to face?
Walker has explained why the Argentinian is so lethal, telling TalkSport that Alvarez’s real threat lies in his ability to operate under the radar, drawing attention away from him so he can strike when opponents aren’t expecting it. “He’s unbelievable; I think his biggest threat is that he has other players to take the limelight off of him, so they don’t worry about him and all of a sudden he pounces into action. I think we had it at City with Erling [Haaland] as the striker and Julian getting games if and when he could,” Walker said. He believes Alvarez’s knack for playing away from the spotlight makes him especially dangerous, with his intelligence and timing allowing him to influence matches even when defenders are focused on other attacking threats. Alvarez’s time at Manchester City showcased his quality, as he contributed alongside some of the world’s best and demonstrated that he can perform at the highest level.
Arsenal’s interest signals a clear intent to strengthen their attack with a player who already has Premier League experience. The feasibility of a deal depends on talks between the clubs involved, but Arsenal could benefit if Atletico Madrid are open to negotiating. Alvarez’s reputation, proven ability, and prior success in English football make him an appealing target, and Walker’s remarks emphasize why he is such a challenging opponent. As the transfer situation progresses, Arsenal will keep a close eye on Alvarez, weighing whether they can lure him back to England.
