LA Dodgers make decision on Donald Trump White House visit following 2025 World Series win

After clinching the 2025 World Series last November, the Los Angeles Dodgers did not visit the White House, as is customary, due to a packed schedule they cited as the main reason. Some observers, however, floated the possibility that politics played a role in the decision. Those concerns have been laid to rest, and now Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers are poised to travel to Washington, D.C., in the middle of the season.
Dodgers reporter Jack Harris announced on Thursday via X that the team will be in the White House on July 23, an off-day on their trip that takes them from New York to Philadelphia. The visit is described as a tribute to last year’s World Series title. The team issued a statement reiterating their stance: “As was the case one year ago, the Dodgers’ upcoming visits to the White House and Capitol Hill follow the longtime tradition of visits by other World Series champions. We appreciate these tributes in recognition of our back-to-back championships.”
financially, the Dodgers can afford to deviate from their usual route. With a 65 percent win rate this season, they hold the best record in the league once again and appear almost certain to return to the World Series. It seems unlikely this will be their final visit to the White House.
Yet a broader issue remains. A sizable portion of Dodgers fans have voiced strong disapproval of visiting the president, given the political strains between the current administration and California. In the end, though, the team appears to be choosing tradition over politics.
