There’s always a scenario in which anything can happen, but as of now, Dallas is content with keeping him on its roster. That’s unfortunately something the Lakers will have to deal with, though the Mavericks are actually making the right decision by doing this. It’s obvious that teams are interested in Thompson, so somebody should be willing to trade for him.“To this point, Dallas has not been looking to find a buyout agreement with Klay Thompson. He’s got one year left on a three-year, $51 million deal that he signed two seasons ago when he left the Golden State Warriors, the franchise he won four championships with, of course…Klay Thompson very nearly chose the Los Angeles Lakers with then LeBron James over joining Dallas originally to pair with Luka Doncic and where’s Luka Doncic right now? Of course, with the Lakers. There’s plenty of connective tissue there that makes sense here.“The only thing is, the Mavericks have been very resistant, to my understanding, of actually moving forward and agreeing to a buyout with Klay Thompson. They believe this market that’s shaping up for him, the fact that there is some LA interest, the fact that there is Miami interest. There’s probably other places that have interest in Klay Thompson as well,” Jake Fischer said, H/T SB Nation. The Miami Heat are also a team that’s expected to be interested in his services if he were to be bought out, but again, it remains uncertain if they would actually move on from any assets to land him. The Lakers probably have more of a need for Thompson, at least fit-wise. He can shoot it with the best of them, and with Luka Doncic’s ability to get him open shots, there wouldn’t be many better players in the NBA than the future Hall of Famer.More NBA news:Lakers learn whether Jonathan Kuminga wants to play in Los AngelesSpurs trade idea brings in Stephen Curry and doesn’t move any young starsDraymond Green’s contract allows Warriors to trade for Trey MurphyDraymond Green contract gives Golden State chance to trade himRaptors attempted to trade $107M youngster for $186M center
