​Make it nine straight victories for the Los Angeles Dodgers when Eric Lauer steps up to the rubber. In a 4-2 victory against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night, Lauer tossed six scoreless innings and allowed just one hit on 87 pitches. In 51.2 innings pitched this season since joining Los Angeles, Lauer has a sub-three ERA (2.96). The bullpen did the rest after relieving Lauer from the seventh inning forward. The Mariners were able to open up a save opportunity for newly activated Edwin Díaz after Cole Young hit an RBI single off Tanner Scott in the top of the eighth. Díaz came in the ninth with an opportunity to record his first save since April 19, and despite him being roughed up for one run on one hit in his lone inning of work, the right-handed flamethrower was able to retire the side. Though the Dodgers’ offense scored sporadically, they did just enough by scoring their four runs on 11 hits and going 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position and leaving seven men on base. Andy Pages, who had been struggling as of late in the two-hole in the starting lineup, kicked off Wednesday’s game with a bang, launching his 18th home run of the season to left field. Freddie Freeman continued his hot hitting at the plate with an RBI single in the third, and Pages returned in the fourth to drive in the Dodgers’ third run of the ballgame via an RBI single. Pages would finish this game going 3-for-4 at the plate while driving in two. “I’ve been working on my swing; today showed the results,” Pages told the media via SportsNetLA. Shohei Ohtani capped off the scoring for Los Angeles in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double and tested the ailing left knee rounding the bases, which looked better compared to games past. With the win, the Dodgers improve to 68-40, and tie the series up against Seattle. Roki Sasaki toes the rubber for Los Angeles on Thursday as they look to secure a series win in their first series back home from the All-Star Break. Following that, the Dodgers will host the Boston Red Sox for a three-game weekend series to close out their short six-game homestand. Join the CommunityDon’t miss out on our ROUNDTABLE community and the latest news!It’s completely free to join.
