I’m not going for family. What am I really playing for at this point? I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win, and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship. I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team, and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time.” out. This is my last decision. A franchise with which James won two titles and recently traded for 2021 NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Heat also went to four straight NBA Finals; the Cleveland Cavaliers, The King’s hometown team, with him previously having two stints with this team already, from 2003-2009 and 2015-2017, claiming their first and only NBA title.Neither team has won a championship since James departed. Both have combined for only one NBA Finals appearance without him since he left for the Los Angeles Lakers. With The King back in the East with the Philadelphia 76ers, it’s definitely a taller task for each team to compete in June. One of the Philadelphia 76ers’ leaders in basketball operations, Bob Myers and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE), has been busy in the offseason. They traded Paul George and two first- and second-round picks for Brown and now signed James to a 2-year deal. The 76ers are projected to be 2026-27 championship contenders.
