LeBron James teases 2 free agency moves in one day, and neither was Cleveland

As the LeBron James free agency speculation continues to run rampant, the King himself has added even more fuel to the fire in recent days. While the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and even Philadelphia 76ers have been constantly mentioned by insiders as realistic potential landing spots for James, most have believed that he’ll ultimately return home to Cleveland for one final season. However, there was a bit of a plot twist this week, as James, either intentionally or unintentionally, sent speculation into overdrive on the very same day.Recent rumors have led to speculation that James is near a decision on his NBA future and where he’ll play the 2026-27 season, but on Tuesday, the chatter around Cleveland cooled off, at least for a day.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFollowing Draymond Green’s comments on his free-agency pitch to LeBron, the two were seen playing golf with Kevin Hart on Tuesday, reportedly in New York City.Considering the current state of LeBron’s free agency and ESPN’s Shams Charania reporting that he’s inching closer to a final decision, this has to be considered a point in the Warriors’ favor.Green has openly said he had been in touch with James prior to this and, of course, made a pitch for him to come to the Warriors, but there’s nothing that necessarily points to them hanging out and playing golf as any kind of recruitment. Even still, it’s certainly noteworthy considering that James may be close to his final decision.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAnd then, there’s the Miami Heat. While the Heat have fallen behind the Cavaliers and Warriors in the LeBron sweepstakes on the popular prediction market, Kalshi, we may need to pump the brakes on that and re-evaluate the possibility of a return to South Beach. Also on Tuesday, James reacted to a video from The Rich Eisen Show that said if he were to return to Miami, he’d be a “non-factor” and that the Heat would be a “play-in” team, with several laughing-crying emojis.Obviously, the primary takeaway here is that he even replied to it, a move that ramped up speculation among Heat and NBA fans alike. The fact that both of these things surfaced extremely close to one another makes it all even more intriguing. But even after a day that seemingly bodes well for the Warriors and Heat, the Cavaliers remain the frontrunners.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThis article originally appeared on For The Win: LeBron James teases 2 free agency moves in one day, and neither was Cleveland
