   ​A standout career at Maury High School has led to the next level for Lee Garris.The senior outfielder was selected by the New York Yankees in the 13th round of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft, going No. 398 overall on the second day of the draft.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementGarris is coming off a dominant senior season in which he was named the All-Tidewater Player of the Year. He helped lead the Commodores to a Virginia state championship game appearance for Class 5 Region B, while batting .530 with nine home runs, 24 RBIs and 44 runs scored.Before being drafted, Garris had committed to continue his baseball career at James Madison University.Instead, the Norfolk native now has the opportunity to begin his professional career with one of Major League Baseball’s most successful organizations after hearing his name called by the Yankees.
