Leeds United identify Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as concrete option

Leeds United have identified Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as a top summer transfer target, according to Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. Manager Daniel Farke is keen to add a quality long-term option between the posts, and Suzuki has emerged as the most concrete and hottest name on Leeds’ table at the moment. With Illan Meslier released and Karl Darlow yet to sign a new contract, Suzuki could become a long-term solution in goal, particularly as Darlow’s future with the club remains in question after last season’s 22 Premier League appearances.
The 23-year-old Japan international impressed at the World Cup and dreams of plying his trade in the Premier League. He notably turned down a move to Manchester United in the past, believing he was not ready for that challenge yet. Suzuki is renowned for his exceptional reflexes and one-on-one prowess, and he can initiate counterattacks with long throws. He is proficient with the ball at his feet and is capable of delivering long throws over the halfway line.
Suzuki’s strengths include rapid, low saves and excellent cross-claiming, having ranked second in Europe’s major leagues for most crosses caught in 2024-25, with 55 crosses collected for Parma, 21 more than his nearest rival in Serie A. His World Cup form showcased his capabilities, fueling ongoing transfer interest from Leeds and other clubs, including Aston Villa. A move for Suzuki could hinge on Darlow’s future situation at Leeds, but the Japanese goalkeeper is viewed as a potential upgrade for the Whites, offering a high-quality, long-term option between the posts.
