The 40-year-old former Scotland defender is set to return to management for the first time since being dismissed by Rangers in October. A final decision had been expected this weekend.
Leicester had been keen on appointing Martin last summer before he took the Rangers job. Instead, the Foxes hired Martí Cifuentes, who was sacked in January after just six months in charge.
Under interim manager Gary Rowett, Leicester slipped into League One, suffering back-to-back relegations following their Premier League demotion in the 2024-25 season. They were also deducted six points for breaching English Football League financial regulations.
Martin’s spell at Rangers lasted only 17 matches; he was sacked with the club sitting eighth in the Scottish Premiership. He had several options this summer before agreeing to join Leicester.
The former MK Dons and Swansea boss guided Southampton to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs in 2023-24.
He will become Leicester’s seventh manager in just over three years since Brendan Rodgers left in April 2023. Leicester. Première ligue
