Lille OSC are reportedly eyeing Feyenoord midfielder Gjivai Zechiel, 22, according to L’Équipe. The French club is actively reshaping their squad, seeking a successor to Bruno Genesio after his departure at the end of his contract. Despite guiding the team into the UEFA Champions League last season, Genesio left once his contract expired, and he was succeeded by Davide Ancelotti. Before his arrival on Tuesday, Ancelotti was still tied to the Brazil national team, but with Brazil recent failures in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, he has now moved to France and begun his work with LOSC.
Basar Onal’s transfer to Lille is anticipated to be finalized soon, with the player expected to join from NEC Nijmegen. LOSC’s transfer strategy continues to lean on Dutch connections, as they pursue more signings from the Netherlands. L’Équipe reports that Zechiel is also attracting interest. Zechiel spent last season on loan at Utrecht, delivering an impressive return of 10 goals and 10 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions. He has since returned to his parent club Feyenoord, who are reportedly demanding a substantial transfer fee, potentially complicating any prospective move to Lille.
