Photo by Jan Kruger/Getty ImagesIt’s been a terrible week for LIV Golf, as their castle slowly collapses, brick by brick.First it was announced that the Asian Tour is partnering with the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour in a deal that features co-sanctioned events and a pathway between the tours. The Asian Tour previously connected to LIV and a major part of their own pathway, so this was a huge blow. Then followed the news that LIV’s Team Championship finale in Michigan has a 95% chance of being cancelled, according to Martin Kaymer of Cleeks GC. LIV Louisiana has already been postponed, and this is the latest sign that the ship is sinking, quickly. In hindsight, we should have seen this coming from a million miles away, because of the big mistake LIV Golf made that doomed their Team Championship.Photo by Manuel Velasquez/Getty ImagesDan Rapaport astonished by the size of LIV Michigan’s purseWhen you get into the details, it should really come as no surprise that LIV Michigan is likely to be canceled. The purse for the event is $40 million, double the size of the purses of the biggest PGA Tour events of the year.LIV is already operating at massive losses, and the tour lost its Saudi investment for next year and beyond. So hosting an event with that large of a purse is impossible.Dan Rapaport, speaking on Dan on Golf, thinks having a purse that big was a huge error. He said, “$40 million. They have a team finale where the purse is $40 million US. This is something we’re going to look back on in five years and say, ‘They played an event, a team finale at some golf course in Michigan, and the purse was more than double the Open Championship.’“Sometimes things just kind of like zap you out of the moment and just like 40 million US dollars. The LIV Team finale in Michigan had a purse of $40 million. It’s hard to wrap your head around. Now, why would this event not be going on while the other ones are? Well, it’s got a higher purse and, this is all subject to whatever the PIF wants to fund.“So, maybe they said, ‘We’ll fund the regular season tournaments, but this $40 million purse in Michigan, I’m not really keen on that one.’“I think all the events are some way. We are looking at a serious reality where there are three LIV Golf events left, as we know it.”The two remaining LIV Golf events if LIV Michigan is canceled After LIV Louisiana’s postponement and LIV Michigan’s potential cancellation, the end of the LIV Golf season is upon us much quicker than expected. This week’s LIV UK will be one of three remaining events at most.Once LIV leaves the JCB Club in England, the tour heads to Trump Bedminster for LIV New York. This is an event that is highly likely to go ahead at one of US President Donald Trump’s golf courses, as he won’t want to see an event canceled on his own turf. Then comes the season finale in Indianapolis, where LIV’s individual winner will be crowned. Jon Rahm looks incredibly likely to win for
