Liverpool’s perfect right-back has just emerged, he’s better than Ronald Araujo

Liverpool’s perfect right-back has just emerged, he’s better than Ronald AraujoLiverpool’s defence has been fairly solid this season. Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo have both settled into their roles nicely with some even suggesting that Jacquet is better than Ibrahima Konate already.Indeed, it did take Andoni Iraola a couple of games to figure out that Araujo needed to be his starting right-back but, after his recent performances, the risk to take him on a season-long loan is clearly paying off. He’s quickly become a cult hero among Liverpool’s fanbase with fans already demanding that his deal is made permanent. However, an even better option for the Reds to explore as their next potential right-back may have just emerged.Givairo Read is the perfect right-back for LiverpoolEver since Trent Alexander-Arnold exited Liverpool, right-back has been a major issue for them. The Anfield outfit expected Conor Bradley to take over from the Englishman and finally cement his place in their starting XI.However, just about halfway into the 2025-26 season, the Northern Irishman suffered a major knee injury which is still keeping him side-lined.This meant that others such as Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Joe Gomez and Wataru Endo all had to plug the gap. And, while Szoboszlai and Jones did rather well, having someone who can naturally play there is always much better. So, that’s why the arrival of Araujo was so needed and so well received. But, since he can’t play every single game and because Jeremie Frimpong is rather rubbish, change could still occur at right-back over the next year or so which is where Givairo Read comes in.and, while he never got his move, his recent performance more than proves why the Reds want him.Givairo Read’s performance vs PEC Zwolle proves why he’s better than Ronald AraujoNot only can Read defend but, his performance on Saturday also proved that he can attack. The Dutchman may only be 20 years old but he’s quickly becoming one of Feyenoord’s most important players. Most of the world’s biggest football clubs wanted to sign him over the summer but, for one reason or another, a move just never worked out.Indeed, bringing Read in instead of Araujo next summer would mean that Liverpool would be losing even more experience from their ranks. But, the fact that Read managed to get three assists in just 75 minutes of football on Saturday proves how mature he is for his age.As per Sofascore, the right-back won 100 per cent of the tackles he attempted and maintained a pass accuracy of 98 per cent.He obviously made three key passes thanks to his assists and, he even managed to have a few shots on goal.Of course, there will still be some areas of his game that will need improving but, since he’s likely to cost a fraction of what Araujo would, it feels like Liverpool making a move for him at some point in the future is a no-brainer.Here’s hoping that Iraola makes his recruitment team revisit the idea so that they can get a deal over the line.
