Lucas Beraldo Set to Stay at PSG With New Contract

Despite being nearly always viewed as a secondary option, Lucas Beraldo has turned the narrative around in just a few months, boosted by the confidence shown in him by head coach Luis Enrique. Once expected to depart at the end of the season, the versatile Brazilian now seems poised to establish himself at Paris Saint-Germain for the long run.
Beraldo, 22, joined PSG in the January 2024 transfer window alongside Gabriel Moscardo, but unlike his Brazilian compatriot, he was not sent out on loan. For almost two years, many questioned why PSG had signed the São Paulo defender. Yet Enrique likely had a plan, and it has paid off. This season, the PSG manager moved Beraldo into midfield, and suddenly the young player’s talents shone through, even on the European stage.
In the UEFA Champions League final, the 22-year-old did not hesitate when taking PSG’s fifth and final penalty. Building on that moment, while a departure had been floated earlier, the talk has shifted toward a contract extension. Beraldo is under contract with PSG through 2028 and has shown no desire to leave the French capital. According to PSG Inside-Actus, an insider source, he had already agreed to an extension prior to the start of the Ligue 1 season. The report suggests that Luis Enrique approves the move, highly valuing the attributes of the former São Paulo player.
“The Brazilian is determined to give everything this season to secure a permanent place in PSG’s rotation, regardless of the position the coach asks him to fill,” the insider noted, adding that the extension could be formalized before PSG’s first Ligue 1 match of the season against Rennes on Sunday, August 23, during which several players with renewed contracts will be presented.
This development would serve as a fitting reward for a player who has drawn comparisons to Andrea Pirlo and Sergio Busquets after several standout Champions League performances. Just months earlier, Beraldo had left many observers indifferent at his Paris debut, but he has since become a central figure for the club. Now, Lucas Beraldo is anticipated to sign a contract extending his stay with the back-to-back European champions through 2030, and discussions are also pointing toward a salary increase. At PSG, Beraldo’s current salary stands at €3.2 million per year, a figure modest by the club’s standards, suggesting a potential rise with the new deal.
In other transfer chatter, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that PSG is keeping a keen eye on the young Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, 23, with talks underway for a potential summer move. Negotiations are progressing rapidly as PSG looks to bolster their squad for the coming seasons, underscoring the club’s broader strategic ambitions in the transfer market.
