Manu Kone: AS Roma inform United of Frenchman’s new asking price

By admin — In News — July 11, 2026

In all likelihood, Manchester United have once again missed out on a midfield signing. Andrey Santos has already signed, but Ederson, who was United’s first summer capture, is unlikely to join. There is still no official position from the club, yet Italian media have made clear that the Brazilian is set to return to Atalanta. The 27-year-old now joins a growing list of midfielders—Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, and Mateus Fernandes—whom United have failed to secure in this window.
INEOS is moving quickly, broadening its search in a bid to land the club’s next midfielder. Bournemouth are sticking firm over the future of Alex Scott, which has driven United, the 20-time English champions, back to looking in Serie A. AS Roma’s Manu Koné has surfaced as a leading target, with many outlets suggesting a bid around £43 million could seal the deal. However, Corriere dello Sport has been clear that Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini is a big admirer of the Frenchman and that leaving for only £43 million is out of the question. Negotiations are expected to commence at a minimum of £47 million, and United have been informed of Roma’s position.
Given Manu Koné’s form for France at the World Cup, Roma’s stance is understandable. Even so, the new valuation should not deter United, as the club remains willing to push ahead. The next move lies with INEOS. The longer they delay, the greater the risk that Koné’s price will rise, with several clubs reportedly prepared to join the chase. Interestingly, INEOS already has Joao Gomes as an alternative in case Roma try any late maneuvers. Fans are keen to see who United will add to their midfield ranks after Santos.
