MAROA, Ill. (WCIA) — Before sending athletes off on one last summer break, Maroa-Forsyth hosted local schools for some friendly competition. The Trojans hosted their 26th annual 7-on-7 Tournament and Lineman Challenge, welcoming in Clinton, Eureka, Pontiac, Peoria Notre Dame and other schools for a day of competition. Each team was guaranteed three games with two twenty-minute halves. Maroa-Forsyth head coach Josh Jostes praised the turnout, glad to see teams continuing to challenge their athletes during the offseason. “Well, just glad to see the game of football still strong,” Jostes said. “There are plenty of kids out here and man, what a great day for weather. This is year 26 for us and I don’t think we’ve ever had a better day, a little bit of spit in the morning but other than that, the temperature wise and no sun breaking down have been great.”The Trojans, who finished as runners-up in Class 2A, open the season on August 21 against New Berlin.
