He will make his season debut tonight vs. Ottawa.— Jack Studley (@jackstudley13) October 5, 2026Poitras was injured on September 22 during a training camp practice session. The next day, Marco Sturm said he was “day-by-day” with a lower-body injury. He only dressed in one preseason game, centering the third line with Attilio Biasca and Lukas Reichel. “It was frustrating. Just, you know, legs felt good, and then just kind of one step, and yeah. I haven’t really dealt with an injury like that during camp before, I feel like,” Poitras said after morning skate Monday. “Just a lower body thing like that, but yeah, it was frustrating because it felt good, and then yeah, just [the] last couple weeks have been just trying to get healthy and be ready for tonight.”Ahead of the season, Don Sweeney said that Poitras will be getting his opportunity with the NHL club once healthy, adding that the Bruins needed to go through the return-to-play protocols established by the league. Marco Sturm wanted to get him more practice reps before playing in his first game. Poitras returned to practice on Thursday and joined the team for the Winnipeg and Minnesota trip.He will make his season debut on Monday night against the Ottawa Senators. He’ll play with Jeannot and Kastelic, but he won’t be taking Kuraly’s spot on the penalty kill.“I want to see his strengths, and I think just being smart and skate. And use those two big boys right beside him. I think it’s a good combination,” Sturm said. “I think it’s going to be good for him. Could get some touches and just play a simple game, and we focus on those little things.”In 69 career NHL games, Poitras has 27 points (7-20–27). After playing 33 games in each of his first two seasons with the Bruins, he played in just three games last season. He scored at the Stadium Series and added another 44 points (13-31–44) in 69 games with Providence last season. Poitras signed a one-year, two-way deal worth $850,000 with the Bruins on the day training camp opened. He will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights this summer.
