The Miami Heat have already made their big offseason splash by trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but all eyes remain on the team as NBA free agency opens. Miami won’t have a lot of cash to spend, but the organization does have several exceptions at its disposal, including the non-taxpayer mid-level exception worth around $12 million, along with $20.5 million in first apron space. As free agency begins at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, follow along with our tracker to stay updated on the latest Heat signings, updates, and trades.
Heat free agency moves: So far, the Heat have been active in re-signing valuable role players. They extended forward Andrew Wiggins on a three-year deal worth $64 million, a contract that includes a player option in the third year (per Shams Charania). The Heat have also retained forward Simone Fontecchio on a one-year deal (Charania).
Heat free agents: According to Spotrac, the Heat have five free agents, with Norman Powell highlighted as the standout, and all signs suggest Miami could be losing the All-Star guard. The full list of Heat free agents includes: Norman Powell (G), Keshad Johnson (F), Jahmir Young (G), Trevor Keels (G), and Vladislav Goldi (C, Restricted Free Agency).
Heat trades: The lone Heat trade so far this offseason is the blockbuster deal centered around Giannis Antetokounmpo, which cannot be finalized until July 6. The terms of the franchise-altering exchange are as follows: Miami receives Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis, while Milwaukee receives Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, Nate Ament (No. 13 overall pick), two first-round picks, one pick swap, and a 2033 second-round pick.
