​Erik Spoelstra has a new job.No, he’s not leaving the Miami Heat. The odds of that happening are slim as Giannis Antetokounmpo missing a breakaway dunk attempt.The next chapter for Spoelstra is becoming the head coach of the USA basketball team that will compete in the 2028 Olympics. You raise your hand and say you want to be part of it.”Spoelstra is in Las Vegas now for the NBA Summer League, checking out the Heat’s young talent. He also greeted some of his former players such as Tyler Herro and Kasparas Jakucionis, who were both traded to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of the deal for Antetokounmpo. Herro was in town mingling while Jakucionis is playing for the Bucks summer team.While Spoelstra leads the way, his staff was recently filled out with Mark Daigneault of the Oklahoma City Thunder, JB Bickerstaff (Detroit Pistons) and Mark Few (Gonzaga Bulldogs).Spoelstra is in charge of what could be the most important Olympics for the United States. Now, other countries have stars such as Victor Wembanyama (France), Nikola Jokic (Serbia) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder) who have had plenty of success in the NBA.Gilgeous-Alexander is the reigning MVP and led OKC to a title two seasons ago while Jokic is a three-time MVP.
