Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love received an official NFL Network ranking of 72nd overall. The ranking, which pits players from across the league against one another, is unveiled on a dedicated show where athletes discuss the pros and cons of the players named. While simply making the list is an honor, many felt that 72nd undersold Love’s abilities. Micah Parsons, Love’s teammate and the Packers’ standout edge rusher, publicly argued that the ranking failed to do Love justice. He took to social media to tell NFL players, media members, and fans that Love deserved a higher standing.

This kind of dynamic between two of the team’s top performers is exactly the kind of relationship coaches and fans want to see. Parsons, who has only been with Green Bay for one season, has quickly developed a strong on-field and off-field camaraderie with Love. He knows Love personally and wanted to make it clear that he has Love’s back. Parsons’ public defense of Love carried additional weight because it came after earlier remarks about Caleb Williams on a separate list were interpreted in a way that sparked a broader conversation. The NFL’s editing of a clip that referenced Williams’ nickname, paired with a caption asking who the best player on the list might be, added fuel to the fire. Parsons had simply named Williams outside the context of that particular question, but the moment was blown out of proportion, and it seemed as though he was praising Williams rather than critiquing the list.
The ensuing chatter quickly gained traction, and many interpreted Parsons’ comments as praise for Love’s quarterback counterpart on the Bears, creating a narrative that needed clarification. Parsons decided to address the situation head-on, publicly supporting Love. Silence might have left room for speculation about his intentions, so he spoke up to reaffirm his stance and show unity with his teammate.
This offseason has been revealing in terms of how the Packers’ roster is perceived compared with other teams. In years past, Green Bay was often viewed as a roster full of emerging talents across multiple positions. Today, the team does not have any players under 25 listed in the top 25 of a notable young-players ranking. It’s a different spotlight, highlighting how the franchise’s long-standing strengths are now complemented by a smaller core of standout stars. Additionally, Love and Parsons were the only Packers players included on another top-100 ranking, underscoring the team’s top-heavy profile as they head into the season.
Love’s position as the team’s quarterback—potentially the catalyst for the offense—means his performance is especially consequential. If he delivers at a high level and the rest of the roster rises to support him, the Packers could see the value of his presence reflected in future rankings. On the flip side, if Love carries too much of the load for a roster that is still developing other components, the overall success could remain hampered, and his individual standing might not immediately improve.
For now, it’s reasonable to consider the 72nd ranking as a starting point rather than a verdict. If the coaching staff and the front office can cultivate a more complete supporting cast around Love and if Parsons can continue to be a disruptive force on defense, the Packers’ performance—and Love’s public perception—could shift substantially as the season unfolds. The coming months will reveal whether the team’s two-headed leadership—Love at quarterback and Parsons on the edge—can elevate the group beyond being viewed as top-heavy, showing that the rest of the roster can grow into a more balanced and dangerous contender.
