Micah Parsons takes issue with Jordan Love’s NFL Top 100 ranking after Packers QB slides again

For the second year in a row, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has slipped down the NFL Top 100 Players list, prompting a vocal response from his teammate and standout linebacker Micah Parsons. Love landed at No. 72 on the ranking, dropping four spots from his position a year ago and marking a descent from a peak of No. 34 in 2024. The annual NFL Top 100 debate never disappoints, and Parsons weighed in loudly, defending his quarterback amid the rankings scrutiny.
“71 players in the NFL aren’t better than Jordan Love!” Parsons proclaimed on X after learning of Love’s placement. The message highlighted the ongoing tension between players’ on-field performances and the broader opinions that drive the Top 100 selections. Love’s 2023 breakout season, when he first became a full-time starter, featured 4,159 passing yards and 32 touchdowns to 11 interceptions, earning him a high-profile spot on the 2024 list. Yet recent years have shown a dip in his production, contributing to the lower ranking.
In 2024, Love threw for 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns, followed by 3,381 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2025. Despite those lower numbers, he did post a career-best completion rate of 66.3% and threw only six interceptions last season, the fewest of his career to date. Health has also been a factor for Love, as he has missed four games across the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, with two absences in each year. Given the context of his recent performance, a slide in the Top 100—even for a young quarterback with potential—reflects a broader evaluation of production and durability.
It’s not unusual to consider that 71 players could be deemed more impactful across all positions, especially when projecting players’ contributions beyond raw yardage and touchdowns. Parsons’ defense of Love underscores the loyalty and belief within the Packers’ locker room, even as outside observers weigh the metrics and rankings differently. The dynamic between a player’s on-field impact and the public discourse surrounding rankings remains a perennial storyline in the league.
The Green Bay Packers have maintained playoff appearances in every season Love has started, but postseason success has been limited, with only one playoff win to show for that span. The team’s recent postseason fate—culminating in a one-and-done exit last season after Caleb Williams and his teammates mounted a dramatic comeback to defeat Green Bay 31-27—has sparked conversation about both Love’s development and the coaching approach.
Head coach Matt LaFleur has retained his role, even as some fans questioned the franchise’s decision-making in recent years. Yet the Packers’ faith in LaFleur’s system signals a belief that the team can contend for a deeper playoff run in 2026. The season ahead will be telling: can Green Bay maximize Love’s continued growth, address gaps on both sides of the ball, and push past the wild-card round to challenge for a more substantial postseason impact?
Looking ahead to 2026, optimism remains that Green Bay can again be a playoff contender. Whether they can make the leap to become a true title threat depends on multiple factors, including Love’s progression as a passer, the development of the supporting cast around him, and the defense’s ability to maintain consistency against diverse offenses. The Top 100 debate will surely continue, but for Packers fans, the priority is a sustained improvement that translates into meaningful wins and a deeper run in the postseason.
