Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Ditka, known best as the head coach of the Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears, has passed away at the age of 856. The former Florida resident moved to Chicago last year after listing his Naples home for sale.Ditka is a former player, coach, and commentator, widely known for his stint with the Bears. He coached Chicago from 1982 to 1992, leading them to a Super Bowl 20 victory in 1985.He also was an assistant coach for the Dallas Cowboys from 1973-81 and was the head coach of the New Orleans Saints from 1997 to 1999.Mike Ditka: Hall of Fame NFL playing career Ditka was the first NFL tight end to reach 1,000 yards in their rookie season. He was named to five Pro Bowls and won championships with the Bears and Cowboys as a player. He also played for the Philadelphia Eagles during his playing career.He’s one of two people to win a Super Bowl as a player, an assistant and a head coach. He’s one of four people who’ve won championships as a coach for the same team they played for when they were players. He was named to the NFL’s 75th and 100th Anniversary Teams.
