Mike Gansey discusses Sixers’ chances in tougher Eastern Conference

The Philadelphia 76ers have built a strong roster led by President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey in his first offseason on the job. He has made big moves in free agency while bringing in star forward Jaylen Brown in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks. The moves put the Sixers squarely in the conversation in a tough Eastern Conference. There are a lot of loaded teams in the East that include the defending champion New York Knicks, the Boston Celtics will still be tough, the Detroit Pistons are coming off a season in which they won 60 games, and the Cleveland Cavaliers have a strong roster while the Toronto Raptors have added Kawhi Leonard. Philadelphia is talented, but so are plenty of other teams in the East.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWith that being said, Gansey is confident in his team as he told the Amazon Prime broadcast crew:Yeah, I think so. I mean, Jaylen brings just such a different dynamic to our group, and with Tyrese (Maxey) and VJ (Edgecombe), those guys are so explosive, they’re so young, they just want to win and play at the highest level. I think Jaylen is really going to help push them to a higher level, and obviously, the big fella is the X-Factor for us.If the Sixers can have a healthy Joel Embiid alongside Maxey, Brown, and Edgecombe–always a big “if”–then they will be near the top of contention convos in the Eastern Conference. This is a strong roster and coach Nick Nurse has championship DNA. It will be interesting to see how far this team goes in the coming season. This article originally appeared on Sixers Wire: Mike Gansey discusses Sixers’ chances in tougher Eastern Conference
