Milwaukee Bucks returning to full-season over-the-air television

A new era is dawning for the Milwaukee Bucks, both on the court and in their media presentation. The NBA franchise announced on Friday that it will return to full-season over-the-air television for the first time in 31 years, bringing Bucks games to local over-the-air channels on MY24 and statewide affiliates through a partnership with Rincon Broadcasting Group. This move marks a nostalgic homecoming, since MY24 previously served as the Bucks’ over-the-air home from 1988 through 1994. For the 2026-27 season, Milwaukee-area viewers will be able to find MY24 on most major cable systems and YouTube TV, with additional statewide affiliate network and streaming options to be announced at a later date. In addition to game broadcasts, Bucks pregame, in-game, and postgame coverage will be available locally, ensuring fans have multiple avenues to follow the team.
“This season represents an exciting return to our roots as we bring Bucks basketball back to full-season over-the-air television for the first time in more than three decades,” said Josh Glessing, president of the Bucks and Fiserv Forum. “We are grateful to our partners at Rincon Broadcasting Group for helping us make Bucks games more accessible to fans throughout Wisconsin.” The decision to switch to over-the-air television follows the closure of the Bucks’ previous TV partner, Main Street Sports, which had overseen the FanDuel Sports Wisconsin network.
Kern Dant, CEO of Rincon Broadcasting Group, commented, “We’re excited to bring the Bucks back to MY24. This partnership goes beyond a traditional television deal; it signifies the return of a Milwaukee tradition. Welcome home, Bucks fans.” The announcement arrives amid an inflection point for the franchise, coming after the team traded away superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo following 13 seasons and an NBA Championship in 2021. The Bucks missed the playoffs this past season for the first time since 2016, signaling a rebuilding period that now coincides with this revival of their former TV home.
The new over-the-air arrangement coincides with a broader shift in how the team communicates with its audience, offering broader access to games for fans across Wisconsin and the Milwaukee market. The season officially kicks off with a notable event—on Sunday, July 12, the Bucks will play a 2026 NBA Summer League game against the San Antonio Spurs. This forthcoming season’s TV strategy positions the Bucks to reconnect with longtime supporters while expanding reach for new fans who want convenient, local access to live game coverage, analysis, and insights.
In short, the Milwaukee Bucks are embracing a refreshed, fan-centric media approach by returning to full-season over-the-air television, strengthening ties with the Wisconsin community, and reviving a cherished local tradition that resonates with generations of Bucks supporters. This strategic move, paired with ongoing team development and a focus on accessibility, aims to enhance the viewing experience and deepen fan engagement as the franchise navigates a period of transition and growth. The full-scale OTA broadcast plan and its implications for fans will unfold across the 2026-27 season, with further details to be released as arrangements with network partners mature. The update was originally reported by Awful Announcing and is expected to shape how Bucks fans watch and follow their team in the coming years.
