We’ve had some years where we had issues with heat. We had a spectator pass out a year or two ago. I would much rather have this.”SMCC’s Christian Craanen had a lot of fun running in the rain.He won the Division 234 boys race with a time of 15:56.3.“He looked pretty good,” Eby said. “He was happy with it, but knows he can run better.”Two other Monroe County Region runners finished behind Craanen.Huron’s Cameron Crane was the runner-up with 16:20.9 and Colton Childress of the Monroe Milers placed third in a personal-best 16:35.4.“He looked really good,” Roupe said of Crane. “He has put in a lot of work.”Other Region runners in the top 25 were: Caleb Healey, Erie Mason, 8; Andrew Bell, Airport, 9; Grant Rasor, Whiteford, 12; Porter Ravary, Mason, 13; Tanner Kuhn, Huron, 14; Hunter Rodak, Airport, 16; Phineas Totten, SMCC, 18; Thomas Wickenheiser, SMCC, 23; Brenton Musallam, Huron, 24, and Hayden Bovair, Airport, 25.Adrian won the team title with Huron second, Airport third, Mason fourth and SMCC fifth.Gibraltar Carlson’s Jack Dunwoody was third in the Division 1 race and Gavin Rohr of Monroe ninth.Ella Baker of Airport was fifth for BCD girls, one spot ahead of Huron’s Grace Pacheco.Huron was second in the team standings to Bloomfield Hills Marion as Kayla Christesen, Isa Vargo, Alexis White and Zoey Cheney ran 12-16-17-22.Erie Mason’s Tanylei Neff was 20th, Juleigh Husby of SMCC 23rd and Airport’s Abbey Ward 24th.Carlson’s girls took third place in Division 1 girls with Giada Fioritto, Alexa Swetz, Madison Slade, Ada Cain, Livia Boucher and Harper Jackson finishing 8-9-11-14-21-22.Zoey Smalling placed 25th for Monroe.SATURDAY’S TOP PERFORMERSVOLLEYBALLAlle Marcero, Monroe: Stood out offensively and defensively as the Trojans went 3-1 in the Ypsilanti Lincoln Tournament, falling to Ann Arbor Pioneer in the finals. “The girls played amazing all day,” Monroe coach Chloe Maurer said. “Our serve receive was a major factor in our success, and our hitting was strong as well.
