Mookie Betts, Teoscar Hernandez Return for Series Finale

The Los Angeles Dodgers will present a familiar lineup as they attempt to rebound from Tuesday’s defeat to the Colorado Rockies. After leading 3-1 through seven innings, a sequence of errors in the eighth allowed the visitors to surge ahead and claim the second game of the series. In a notable moment for Ohtani, he reached a major career milestone by hitting his 300th home run. The Dodgers will look to end the series with a win on Wednesday, hoping for a more consistent showing from their starter, Roki Sasaki.
Sasaki has shown bursts of effectiveness but has also struggled in recent outings. He yielded three runs over four innings with five walks two starts ago, and in his most recent appearance, he was tagged for six earned runs in three innings. On the season, the right-hander carries a 5.40 ERA while recording 75 strikeouts in exactly the number of innings he has pitched.
The Dodgers’ lineup for the series finale sticks to a relatively standard structure, with several regulars re-entering the order following Tuesday’s loss. Shohei Ohtani, as usual, leads off as the designated hitter. Tommy Edman slides into the two-hole at second base. Freddie Freeman occupies the third spot at first base, followed by Mookie Betts at shortstop in the fourth position. Max Muncy slides to the fifth spot at third base, while Teoscar Hernández returns to left field in the sixth slot. Kyle Tucker bats right after him in the seventh, with Alex Call starting in center field to give Pages an off day in the outfield. Behind the plate, Eliezer Alfonzo rounds out the nine-man lineup.
The projected Dodgers lineup for Wednesday’s game is:
1) Shohei Ohtani, DH
2) Tommy Edman, 2B
3) Freddie Freeman, 1B
4) Mookie Betts, SS
5) Max Muncy, 3B
6) Teoscar Hernández, LF
7) Kyle Tucker, RF
8) Alex Call, CF
9) Eliezer Alfonzo, C
Pitching for the Dodgers is Roki Sasaki, RHP.
On the other side, the Rockies are taking a bold step with their rotation for the series finale, turning to rookie right-hander Gabriel Hughes for his first MLB start. Hughes made his major league debut last Friday against the San Francisco Giants and impressed in three scoreless innings. If he can translate that early momentum to Dodger Stadium, Colorado will be aiming to clinch the series. Hughes will be tasked with keeping the Dodgers’ formidable lineup from getting into a rhythm and helping his club secure a series win.
First pitch for Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. PT. The night promises a competitive clash as two teams battle to finish the series on a high note, with the Dodgers seeking a return to their winning ways behind Ohtani and company and the Rockies aiming to surprise with a fresh arm and an opportunity to take the set.
