​Honda have ruled Joan Mir out of the next two events in Japan and Indonesia.The 2020 MotoGP world champion will miss the first two races of the Asian flyaways as the team investigate an issue which saw him fail to take part in the Austrian Grand Prix.A team statement from HRC read: “Following medical advice, Joan Mir will miss both the Japanese GP and the Indonesian GP as he aims to understand the root cause of his symptoms.⁠“Get well soon Joan, we’re here waiting for you. His replacement will be announced in due course.”Taka Nakagami came in for Mir last time out at the Red Bull Ring, but is already taking part in Motegi as a wildcard.Austria saw a relatively clean bill of health for the grid, with Tech3’s Maverick Vinales the only other rider to miss out, although he may return in Japan.Martin decides against surgery during MotoGP title fightThere was also more good news for 2024 champion and title contender Jorge Martin.The Aprilia rider took second and the championship lead despite entering the weekend with arm pump.The issue saw him drop from first to fifth in the previous race in Misano, but it showed no signs of slowing him down in Austria, where he also won the sprint.Martin said he would assess the issue after the sprint, and potentially go under the knife on the Monday after with a week’s break before Japan.However, he’s revealed that he feels good enough to keep fighting for the championship.Aprilia star explains why operation is ‘big risk’He told Sky Italia: “I haven’t recovered 100 per cent; I was struggling a bit in the final laps, but it didn’t limit my riding.“We’ll continue like this; it’s not the right time, and it’s a big risk to have surgery.”In an interview with AS, he added: “The last thing I want to do is open up my arm and remove any fascia. What I want is to rest.
