Muchova beats Gauff in epic tie-break to reach final

Karolina Muchova earned a dramatic victory by saving a match point and then overcoming an intense deciding-set tie-break to defeat Coco Gauff and advance to her first Wimbledon final. Muchova began the semi-final as the brighter player, dictating play and swinging momentum, but Gauff responded with composure, and the pair traded blows as they navigated a high-quality third set that left little between them.
In a deciding tie-break that tested nerves and endurance, Gauff—who is a two-time Grand Slam champion—stumbled at a crucial moment after erasing a 4-1 deficit and sealing match point on her own serve. She sent a straightforward forehand into the net, and Muchova seized the opportunity to seize control. Muchova herself had faced a match point earlier in the tie-break, but she did not falter when it mattered most. She converted her next chance and secured a remarkable 6-2 1-6 7-6 (12-10) victory in sweltering conditions on Centre Court.
The Czech player, ranked 10th, had previously reached four major semi-finals, but in the majors she had managed only one final appearance — the 2023 French Open, where she fell in three sets to Iga Swiatek. Now Muchova will gear up for another shot at Grand Slam glory on Saturday, as she prepares to face either her fellow Czech Linda Noskova or Ukraine’s 12th seed Marta Kostyuk, in what promises to be another compelling championship decider.
Fans will be following the ongoing results and scheduling as Wimbledon’s order of play continues to unfold, with updates and streams available for those seeking the latest developments. The dramatic comeback on Centre Court reinforced Muchova’s reputation as a resilient competitor who can rise to the occasion when it matters most, and it sets the stage for a potentially memorable final run at this year’s tournament.
